After enduring what felt like months of Howard Stern complaining about how Lady Gaga was ignoring him on Sirius Satellite Radio, Mother Monster finally paid a visit to ‘The Howard Stern Show’ on Monday morning. The two chatted for nearly 90 minutes about everything from drugs, Sex, and fame to fashion, ‘Born This Way,’ and Gaga’s surprisingly small Brooklyn apartment. That’s right, Lady Gaga calls Brooklyn home! During the interview, the singer shared details about her childhood interests, dropping out of NYU, and her pre-fame days when she would dance on fire escapes and fantasize about stardom — a scene she later recreated in her glam-rock ‘The Edge of Glory’ music video. But it wasn’t all glitz and glamour for Gaga. She revealed that she worked multiple waitressing jobs just to get by in New York City and turned to drugs when she felt lonely. Reflecting on her past drug use, Gaga warned her fans not to touch cocaine, as she regretted every line she ever did. When Stern tried to pry into Gaga’s earnings from her successful Monster Ball tour, she brushed off the question, claiming she doesn’t care about money and is just grateful to afford her modest $1,100 per month apartment. According to Gaga, the only significant purchases she’s made with her earnings are heart surgery and a car for her father.
In classic Howard Stern style, he managed to have a candid conversation with Lady Gaga about her past relationships and current love for music. Gaga humorously mentioned how it can be tough to find a boyfriend who is okay with her unique style, joking about the rumors surrounding her gender. By the end of the interview, Stern was full-on embracing his inner “little monster,” praising Gaga’s acoustic performance of ‘The Edge of Glory’ as one of the best they’ve ever had on the show.
